Local technology companies are providing technical assistance in information management and security sectors in e-passports

The government has started the e-passport (electronic passport) program to provide passport services automatically, keeping pace with the developed countries of the world. Flora Telecom Limited, a Bangladeshi technology provider, will provide technical support to implement nation-wide e-passport projects. This information was given in a notification issued by the company.

The Flora Authority said that the overall management of the e-passport project will be the German firm Veridos and the local organization will provide technical support in information management and security sectors, Flora Telecom.

The officials of the company say the main data center of e-passport will be the responsibility of Flora Telecom Management.

Flora's staff on Saturday said it will coordinate the technology of disaster management, regional passport offices, and Flora's staff will coordinate the technology. Flora will provide institutional enterprise server, storage and security solutions for conducting passport operations as a domestic partner.

Last week, the German firm Veridos approved the work of 33.4 billion rupees for conducting biometric-based passport services in Bangladesh.

Verdeos will supply three crore e-passport booklets to Bangladesh. They will be under the supervision of the program for the next 10 years.

Flora Telecom Managing Director Mustafa Rafiqul Islam said, "I'm very proud to offer technology services for the e-passport project. The passport department's sweeping project will be successful in implementing the integrated experience with the German company. The e-passport project will be implemented with complete domestic funding.

On July 19, an agreement was signed between Bangladesh and Germany to strengthen the security of citizens and introduce e-passports to prevent fake passports.
